JOB SUMMARY:
Afghan Support Network (ASN) is seeking dedicated STEAM Tutors to support youth through our RIYSE (Refugee & Immigrant Youth Student Empowerment) Program. Tutors will provide academic support in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, helping students strengthen foundational skills, complete homework, and build confidence. The position reports directly to Youth Program Coordinator and is a part-time position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver STEAM tutoring at ASN Learning Hubs (after-school & weekend programs);
- Support students with homework and school assignments;
- Reinforce math, science, and critical thinking skills;
- Assist multilingual learners in understanding classroom content;
- Maintain attendance, basic progress tracking, and participation records;
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging & culturally responsive learning environment;
- Engage with families and community members to support student learning;
- Collaborate with ASN staff to continuously improve program quality;
- Support any other Education Programs related work & tasks;
- Collaborate with education department team and Youth Program Coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field, or adequate experience.
- Experience in tutoring, education, or youth development;
- Strong knowledge of math, science, or STEAM-related subjects;
- Experience working with Afghan or immigrant youth preferred.
- Ability to work with K–12 students from diverse backgrounds;
- Ability to design clear and engaging lesson plans;
- Ability to pass a background check;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Experience working with immigrant/refugee youth preferred;
- Bilingual skills are a plus (Dari/Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, Urdu, etc.);
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites;
- Willingness to attend and participate in school events and programs.
