Sanaullah Hashimi, a 17-year-old cricketer from Portland, OR, has been playing with the local Afghan Zalmi team. With seven years of cricket experience both in Afghanistan and the U.S., Sanaullah plays as a versatile batsman and bowler. He is currently a student in the 12th grade at Beaverton High School.
Sanaullah credits the support of his family, friends, and the Afghan Support Network for his recent selection to participate in the U.S. Under-19 Cricket Conference. Reflecting on the moment his team captain informed him of his selection, he said, "I couldn’t believe it. I immediately shared the news with my family—it was a huge opportunity."
In bowling, Sanaullah has developed his own unique style, while in batting, he looks up to Rahmanullah Gurbaz as his role model. He draws inspiration from Rashid Khan, seeing him as a guiding example of where he wants to be in the future.
As he prepares to participate in the U.S. Under-19 Cricket Conference, Sanaullah encourages other teenagers to pursue their passions; "I urge young people my age to step forward in any sport they feel passionate and interested in".
