JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Engagement Manager – Salem will serve as the lead representative of ASN in the Salem area, responsible for expanding ASN’s presence, building partnerships, and providing culturally responsive support to Afghan community members. This role requires a dynamic individual who can work independently, develop strong community relationships, and deliver client services while also helping to lay the foundation for ASN’s future office in Salem.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as ASN’s primary point of contact and representative in Salem, promoting ASN’s mission and services.
- Develop partnerships with local organizations, service providers, government agencies, and community leaders to enhance available resources for Afghan community members.
- Assess community needs and collaborate with ASN leadership to design and implement culturally specific programs and services.
- Lead efforts to establish a physical ASN office in Salem, including identifying potential locations, assessing community needs, and coordinating with ASN leadership.
- Represent ASN in coalitions, advocacy groups, and public events to increase visibility and strengthen community ties.
- Engage in outreach and education efforts to ensure Afghan community members are aware of and connected to ASN’s services and resources.
- Foster a strong and inclusive Afghan community where all individuals feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to contribute to the community’s well-being and success.
- Provide comprehensive, culturally, and linguistically appropriate case management services, including housing support, public benefits navigation, school enrollment, healthcare access, and employment assistance.
- Conduct home visits and community meetings to assess client needs and provide ongoing support.
- Help clients navigate local systems and advocate for their rights, while promoting empowerment and self-sufficiency.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in ASN’s database and funder-required systems.
- Ensure compliance with all confidentiality, privacy, and organizational/funder policies.
- Collect data and report on client outcomes and community trends to ASN leadership.
- Additional duties as needed to support the mission of ASN.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto (required).
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for client and community meetings.
- Ability to pass an extensive background check.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work/life experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, community outreach, or nonprofit program coordination.
- Strong understanding of Afghan culture, refugee resettlement, and immigrant community needs.
- Proven ability to build relationships and develop partnerships within diverse communities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
