JOB SUMMARY:

Afghan Support Network (ASN) is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and mission-driven Data Officer to support, strengthen and strategically develop the organization’s data systems, reporting infrastructure, and program evaluation efforts. The position holder will work with Development Department & closely collaborate with all ASN Programs & Teams, and is a full-time position. The Data Officer will lead the administration, optimization, and ongoing development of Salesforce CRM systems, support grant and HRSN reporting, maintain accurate and secure data practices, and assist with organizational publications, dashboards, and impact reporting. The role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively across departments, and experience with data management systems & reporting tools in a fast-paced, community-centered environment.

The Data Officer serves as ASN’s subject matter expert on organizational data systems and business intelligence, exercising independent judgment in developing reporting methodologies, recommending technology improvements, strengthening data governance, and providing data-informed recommendations that support executive leadership and organizational decision-making.

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the administration, optimization, and strategic development of ASN’s Salesforce CRM and organizational data systems to ensure accurate tracking of client services, program activities, donor engagement, and community impact.
  • Develop and implement consistent data management procedures, reporting workflows, and quality assurance practices, and organizational data governance standards that support organizational operations, compliance, and strategic growth.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret programmatic, demographic, and service data to support executive decision-making, program evaluation, organizational planning, and continuous organizational improvement.
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for grants, contracts, funders, leadership, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead & Support Salesforce CRM enhancements, including HIPAA-aligned data practices and integration with Unite Us Oregon billing and referral systems, to strengthen secure HRSN documentation, reporting, and service coordination.
  • Evaluate, design, implement, and continuously improve integrations between Salesforce, QuickBooks, Unite Us, and other organizational platforms to improve operational efficiency, financial tracking, cross-departmental coordination, and reporting accuracy.
  • Support ASN’s HRSN service infrastructure by maintaining accurate billing, referral, and service documentation systems in collaboration with program and leadership teams.
  • Collaborate closely with ASN leadership, program staff, and other departments to identify reporting needs, recommend organizational performance indicators, monitor service trends, and strengthen outcome measurement efforts.
  • Conduct routine database audits, data clean-up, and quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to staff and volunteers on Salesforce utilization, data entry standards, reporting procedures, data security practices, and organizational data governance.
  • Support grant reporting, program evaluations, and organizational publications by providing data-driven insights, outcome metrics, and impact statistics.
  • Assist ASN’s Development and Communications efforts through support with newsletters, annual reports, donor reporting, impact stories, and community publications in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain confidential and secure handling of sensitive client and organizational information while supporting HIPAA-aligned and trauma-informed data practices.
  • Design, maintain, and continuously improve dashboards, tracking tools, and reporting systems that strengthen ASN’s ability to evaluate programs, monitor organizational performance, and communicate community impact.
  • Provide technical leadership related to CRM systems, reporting tools, organizational data workflows, and business intelligence solutions to improve staff effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend improvements to ASN’s data infrastructure, reporting capabilities, system integrations, and business intelligence tools that enhance organizational effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
  • Represent ASN professionally and uphold the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to culturally responsive community service.
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives and organizational development efforts that strengthen ASN’s infrastructure, sustainability, and long-term community impact.
 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with CRM and enterprise data management systems, primarily Salesforce.
  • Experience with data collection, reporting, database management, and program evaluation in nonprofit, healthcare, public service, or community-based settings preferred.
  • Familiarity with reporting systems, dashboards, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools, including Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Understanding of HIPAA-aligned data practices, confidentiality standards, and secure handling of sensitive information preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple staff leaders and departments across various functional areas.
  • Detail-oriented with strong written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong critical thinking and decision-making capability.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, improving, or integrating organizational data systems and workflows.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in identifying reporting needs, developing analytical approaches, and recommending technology and data management solutions.
  • Highly resourceful team player with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to train and support staff and volunteers on data systems, reporting procedures, and organizational workflows.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and community-centered service delivery.
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation consistent with organizational policies and funding requirements.
