JOB SUMMARY:
The Afghan Support Network (ASN) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Driver Education Coordinator. This full-time position encompasses teaching driving skills, leading instructional permit classes in Pashto and Dari, and providing interpretation assistance to individuals seeking permits and licenses. The Driver Education Coordinator will play a crucial role in empowering newly arrived Afghan refugees to overcome language and cultural barriers, enabling them to obtain driving permits and licenses confidently and safely.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluency in English, Dari and Pashto required
- Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record
- Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation
- Some weekend and evening work may be required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver comprehensive driving education sessions tailored to Afghan refugees, fostering safe driving skills and building confidence behind the wheel.
- Conduct instructional permit classes in Pashto and Dari, ensuring participants understand traffic regulations and preparing them to successfully pass the permit test.
- Provide interpretation support during the permit application and testing processes, ensuring accurate communication between participants and authorities.
- Offer personalized coaching to participants, addressing specific learning needs and areas for improvement.
- Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Administer mock permit tests to assess participants’ preparedness for both the permit and driver’s license tests.
- Collaborate with team members to develop curriculum, materials, and resources for driving education and permit classes.
- Maintain accurate records of participant progress, attendance, and performance assessments.
- Gather feedback from participants to continuously enhance program effectiveness.
- Stay current with driving regulations and requirements to provide participants with up-to-date information.
- Adhere to all ASN and funder policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
