JOB SUMMARY:

The Afghan Support Network is seeking a dynamic and committed Education Specialist to join our team. The Education Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a range of educational programs and initiatives aimed at empowering Afghan refugees through accessible and culturally sensitive learning opportunities. This role plays a pivotal part in fostering community engagement and enhancing the educational journey of Afghan refugees.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working in education, preferably with refugee or immigrant communities.
  • Proficiency in English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the unique needs of Afghan refugees.
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement educational programs tailored to the needs of Afghan refugees, including language instruction, cultural orientation, and skill-building workshops.
  • Collaborate with community partners and educational institutions to expand access to resources and opportunities for Afghan refugees.
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to individuals seeking educational and vocational advancement.
  • Conduct assessments to identify learning needs and develop individualized learning plans.
  • Facilitate group workshops and training sessions on relevant topics.
  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling, enrollment, and tracking participant progress.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that respects cultural diversity.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements based on participant feedback.
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in education and social services.
  • Adhere to ASN and funder policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
