Afghan Support Network

October 2024 was another impactful month at ASN, filled with educational programs, immigration and case management, career coaching and employment assistance, and most importantly official start of ASN’s Legal and Immigration Navigation services to support the Afghan community.

Our Parenting Class for Women/Mother saw 18 participants, creating a safe space for fathers to share and learn valuable parenting skills. ASN’s educational program started IT Certification Classes this month with enrolment of 25 students for professional certification (CampTIA+ & CampTIA Security+) as part of our workforce development and career coaching programs. ASN continued to offer Educational Classes in Dari, Pashtu, and Quran/Religion, along with English Classes featuring 3 classes with 5 sessions weeklyand the Women’s Madrasa, providin2 classes weekly. Our community also benefited from weekly Permit/Driving Classes (3 classes) and Robotics Classes (1 class), helping participants develop practical and technological skills. The Recertification Program for Doctors sa1 class this month, supporting Afghan professionals on their journey to re-enter the medical field in the U.S. With total 235 students enrolled in different educational programs and initiatives. 

In addition to these programs, ASN provided vital services to support the community, as highlighted in the attached image. We offered Housing AssistanceTransportation Assistance, and Employment Assistance beyond 683 touchesOur Health Navigation Assistance supported 72 individuals, while Legal & Immigration Assistance helped 82 clients, and Food Assistance reached 11 families in need.

The work continues as we aim to empower and uplift the Afghan community through these meaningful programs and services!

Afghan House (افغان کور – خانه افغانها): A Community Hub for All

Afghan House (افغان کور – خانه افغانها) proudly hosted the Nikah & Shahada Ceremony of Danielle & Omer on October 19, 2024. As a vibrant community center open to all Afghan community members and the broader Oregonian community, we were deeply honored that this young couple entrusted ASN and our team to facilitate such a joyous and meaningful celebration. Moments like these embody the spirit of unity and togetherness that Afghan House strives to foster every day.
