Our Board of Directors brings together diverse professional expertise, lived experience, and a shared commitment to strengthening Afghan families and communities. Board members guide ASN’s strategic direction, uphold organizational accountability, and advance sustainable, community-responsive programs.

Jamila Wahab

Chair of the Board
Portland, Oregon

Jamila Wahab is an experienced elementary educator and multilingual classroom leader who currently serves as a substitute teacher with Portland Public Schools. She brings expertise in culturally responsive teaching, social-emotional learning, student assessment, family engagement, and cross-cultural communication. Jamila holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Lewis & Clark College.

Chris Harder

Vice Chair of the Board
Portland, Oregon

Chris Harder is Deputy Director of Economic Prosperity and Housing for the City of Vancouver, Washington. He brings executive experience in economic development, public finance, regional planning, civic innovation, strategy, and organizational culture, including prior service as Oregon’s State Economic Development Director.

Ajmal Wahab

Treasurer
Lake Oswego, Oregon

Ajmal Wahab is an accounting manager with Kanto Corporation and brings experience in financial analysis, bookkeeping, tax preparation, payroll auditing, forecasting, and entrepreneurship. He is also a sports enthusiast and youth cricket coach committed to supporting young people and community development.

Ayesha Bashar

Board Member
West Linn, Oregon

Ayesha Bashar is a Certified Public Accountant with Bashar & Johnson, P.C. and serves on the YMCA Advisory Board. She is affiliated with the American Institute of CPAs, the Oregon Society of CPAs, and Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, and holds degrees in financial analysis, business administration, and accounting.

Nasratullah Ibrahimi

Board Secretary
Eugene, Oregon

Nasratullah Ibrahimi is an IT and Business Development Associate with Catholic Community Services of Lane County. His experience includes project operations, strategy implementation, stakeholder engagement, IT systems, data quality, digital transformation, international development, and multilingual communication. He is also a founder and former government advisor with a Bachelor of Arts in Law.

Yahya Haqiqi

President / CEO
Lake Oswego, Oregon

Yahya Haqiqi is President and CEO of Afghan Support Network and a strategic nonprofit and community leader. His experience spans organizational development, change management, public policy, advocacy, economic empowerment, program innovation, capacity building, and cross-cultural engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management and Leadership from Portland State University.
